The purposes of the corporation are fraternal, patriotic, historical,
charitable and educational, and are;
to preserve and strengthen comradeship among its members;
To assist worthy Comrades;
To perpetuate the memory and history of our dead, and to assist their
surviving spouses and orphans; 
To maintain true allegiance to the Government of the United States, and
fidelity to its Constitution and laws;
To foster true patriotism; To maintain and extend the institutions of
American freedom; and To preserve and defend the United States from all
enemies.

Commander Lowe encourages members to participate in MOVA,
Mayor Bowser’s committee on Veteran’s Affairs. Per Comrade Sydnor,
MOVA has temporarily halted until new overseer is selected.

Committee Reports
*Comrade Townsend submitted 5 dates throughout 2024 for the Buddy
Poppy Drive; He’s also seeking volunteers; Flyer dissemination and draft
intro letter to businesses.
*Patriot Pen winner name is needed; Police Officer-Morgan Kane;
VoD winner identified; Teacher of the Year;
Tentative recognition date is February 10.
Commander Lowe suggested Feb 17 th (Meeting date) for
Recognition Program, motioned, CoS Sydnor, 2 nd Jr Com Respress.
Jr Com Respress also volunteered to be the Membership Chairperson
For Buddy Poppys, motioned-Com Townsend, 2 nd CoS Sydnor.

National Home for Children Prayer
Almighty God, we ask for Your Devine blessing on the children, families and
staff of our National Home for Children, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan.
May Your Spirit dwell with them forever, giving them health and guiding
their lives. Help us to always be faithful to our fallen comrades by providing
(shelter and guidance) support for their families.
We ask in Your Holy Name. Amen
Unfinished Business
Kitchen certification/Inspection, paperwork/manager needed;
Jr Com Respress referenced Com Eaves familiarity of a Chef who
may be able to assist the Post in acquiring certification/reach out
to Mrs. Coleman also.
Actions to be completed: FP 161(District requirement), 501©19
Com Rich stated that at the District meeting, it was mentioned that
IRS made a mistake in disqualifying the Department’s status.(?)
The Post is using Bulk Mail distribution to confirm members’
(membership) who we’ve not heard from in a while.
New Business
February 2, 2024, Sip & Develop(Veteran owned business) has invited the
Post to its Grand Opening Ceremony, as well as their flag raising at
10:30am, National Harbor, Oxon Hill, MD. JROTC
Good of the Order
Suggestions for Fundraising: Fish fry, Superbowl party (renew these items
at Feb 17 th meeting); Question asked: alcohol license, one day permit? Cost,
insurance? Financial proposal*Spring Clean-up March-April;

*Post Renovation Grants; Volunteers needed at Cheltenham Cemetery to
remove wreaths on Saturday January 27 th 2024 10am.

Back School Supplies Drive

School Supplies Drive In support of DC students, we are conducting our annual school supplies drive starting 18 May 2024. Our goal this school year is to fill at least 100 backpacks with school supplies for DC students. Drop off dates for the school supplies are: 18 May 2024 15 June 2024 20 July 2024 10 August 2024 If you can’t come by the post, you can make a donation, make all checks payable to VFW Post 341, in the memo section write YOUTH DEVELOPMENT. We will hand out these filled backpacks on 17 August 2024, 1:30 pm at the post home, located at 1601 Kenilworth Avenue, NE , Washington, DC 20019.
